Summer at Odell Lake, 2019

Where did summer go? Luckily I can say part of it was spent trolling for kokanee at Odell Lake and watching osprey fly high above the spruce trees at Trapper Creek. Here is a compilation of photos from a few trips over the summer.

We started the summer with lots of kokanee in the freezer, so we didn’t get to Odell quite as much in an attempt to draw the inventory down and see a few new places. The fishing was a bit slower than normal, no limits were caught, with a day’s typical catch being about 20 (a limit is 30 per person). We were able to catch at least one full case of kokanee (24) after a few days of coming up 1 fish short.

We visited last weekend to see the spawners in Trapper Creek and say farewell to summer.

It looks like there will be fish to go after for another year, assuming the spawners are successful. Until then I’ll be dreaming of tight lines and bouncing rods before the light hits the water.
