Mojave Trail, 2018

It wasn’t long after finishing the White Rim Trail and having a spectacular time, that we started wondering what was next.  What other ‘trails’ were out there to explore?  It wasn’t too long before we settled on the Mojave Trail.  The rest of our 2018 California Road Trip formed around seeing the trail.  The trail is a ~ 140 mile stretch used historically by Native Americans and later developed into a wagon route between the Colorado River and the Mojave River between multiple desert watering holes.

Joshua Tree, 2018

Note: This is a continuation of our California trip from here:  https://www.occidentalist.org/wandering-ca-395-2018-part-2/  After departing the Alabama Hills we struck off ever southward toward Joshua Tree National Park.  It was a transition day as the Sierra came to an end, and cholla cactus, creosote bushes and eventually Joshua trees filled the landscape before us.  It took the better part of the day to get there, but we did arrive in time to do some initial looking around. …
